Kibera School and Playground

WELCOME TO KIBERA SLUMS
The Kibera slums is home to approximately 3 million people.
The Salvation Army has three corps in the slums.
Most people live in an 8' x8' metal home.
There is not indoor plumbing and most do not have electricity.

WELCOME to KIBERA CORPS AND NURSERY SCHOOL
There are three corps in Kibera slums.

The Kibera Corps is an oasis in the midst of the slums...
an oasis where banana trees grow.

Where this teacher has given approx 30 years of service.

Where this teacher was hired to teach 15 children in a tiny space;
but the need is there and so space is "found".

Where children are being equipped with education and food.

Where they learn songs, manners, and English.

Where they are appreciative of lollipops and stickers.
Some will take their goodies home to share with another sibling.

Look at these faces...

Precious faces...

Happy faces...

Inquisitive faces...

Children who are loved...

Children who have potential...

Children who NEED to be outside playing...

Beautiful new playground

Donated by two loving adults who care about children...

Knowing the children need exercise...

...in order to grow

...and learn

...who need to be boys

...who need an outlet for energy

...who need to laugh

...who need to be daring

...and experience fun

...and new experiences
Asanta sana to our USA friends

Thank you for caring

Thank you for seeing our need

Thank you for giving from your abundance

We love this playground

We love YOU!

Women's All Day Bible Study - Book of Ruth

The house is empty but ready to receive 13 women for Bible study.
Most of these women live on the compound and attend a bi-monthly study at our home.
This was a special day - all day study in the book of Ruth

The entrance is inviting

Soon the house begins to fill with women who are always ready to engage in conversation...

...and who are eager to study the Word together

...and to pray together.

We thank God for the available "worship and conversation" space at our home

As a result of a generous donor friend from the States,
the ladies were able to experience pedicures, while they and still engaged in Bible study

Over half of the ladies had never had a pedicure.
It was great to watch and listen to them while we studied.

The finished products...where is Janice's foot?

All Day Bible Study Group - (Ruth)

Eight women are signed up for a two-day study on Spiritual Disciplines.
We will go away for this study/practice.
Photos of that time will be posted in July.
